The Cape Wine Academy has seen more than 200,000 students through its doors since its inception in 1979. Most of South Africa’s wine industry experts have completed some form of education, training or experiences with us over more than 40 years of wine education.
Our courses are unique in that we focus on the nuances of the Cape wine landscape whilst
keeping the context of global wine regions. We do this by tapping into the vast knowledge and
wisdom of affiliated and actively involved wine professionals and specialists whose expertise is incorporated into the training materials and assessments that are regularly reviewed and updated to remain relevant.
The Cape Wine Academy also collaborates with several partners, either directly or strategically, to ensure that wine education in South Africa takes into consideration the needs and interests of the wide spectrum of its industry players and wine enthusiasts in both professional and social interest capacities.
Harry has been our Principal since September 2018 shortly after he graduated as the 101st Cape Wine Master in South Africa. Wine is an integral part of his life both personally and professionally. It’s his firm ambition to share the knowledge, love and joy he derives from wine with those who are curious whilst advancing wine knowledge at all levels in the wine retail, hospitality and tourism sectors for the benefit of all. As a dedicated wine fanatic, his favourite style changes as often as the tides, with his current fascination being cooler climate Syrah. In his free time you’ll find Harry with Tracy, his wife, and little daughter Sienna enjoying all that outdoor adventures that the Cape has to offer. He’s part owner of a chain of restaurants in London and a keen foodie who has been involved in a number of ‘pop urban foraged feasts’. Harry loves authentic storytelling and slowing things down so that interactions with family and friends and fellow wine lovers are meaningful and enriching.

Paul is our Sales and Marketing Manager who joined us after working in Sales for Meridian Wine Merchants. Wine is the third love of his life. Paul loves that every bottle has its own journey from the vineyard to bottle right through to the moment you encounter it in the glass, and the most memorable ones linger long after the last drop. Paul has his Certificate in Cape Wine and his ambition is to keep advancing his wine journey to make a difference by sharing his passion and sharing the educational opportunities that the Cape Wine Academy has to offer. He is an avid wine lover and his favourites are Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cap Classique – in that order. Paul is the proud father of a beautiful daughter and the spouse of his better half. He enjoys nature and being active, and he is happiest when he gets to combine time with his family and friends – with a glass of Chardonnay.
