My Wine Story – Yanira Cruz

When South African Wine Course graduate, Yanira Cruz decided to leave Colombia and relocate to South Africa to study English, she never thought that a whole new world of wine would open up to her.

In particular, Yanira has fallen head over heels for Pinotage:
“I remember the day I found your name engraved on paper, which caught my attention because your name evoked in me an elegant prince, adventurous, romantic, intense and in love, I felt trapped and wanted to know more about you.”

Yanira works in the Human Resources Department of an Insurance Company in Colombia. “The reason for coming to South Africa was to study English. I chose this country for two main reasons, the first for its cultural and ethnic diversity, which makes it very special, and the second is for the wine regions.”

Yanira is excited to continue her wine story in South Africa with the help of the Cape Wine Academy.
