An introductory wine course that takes you on a wine journey around South Africa revealing the great wine growing regions of the Cape. Explore vineyard and winemaking practices and learn how they contribute to making a quality wine. Get to know the various red and white grape varieties with guided tastings.
The course is designed to set a basic standard in the wine industry for service and hospitality attitudes to tourists and guests visiting wine farm tasting rooms.
By the end of this course, you will be comfortable in conversation relating to the basic styles and varieties of wine and the natural and production factors that influence the quality of wine as well as the basics of food and wine pairing.
Each student is required to complete an assignment.
An examination also needs to be taken. To be successful a minimum of 50% needs to be achieved for the exam. The exam counts 60% and the assignment 40% towards the final course mark.
You will receive a certificate of completion and you will be eligible to progress to the Cape Wine Academy Certificate Course.
