Three Golds for De Krans at Veritas

De Krans Wine Cellar scooped three gold medals at the 2011 Veritas Awards.

SOUTH AFRICA, WESTERN CAPE, 11 OCTOBER 2011 - De Krans Wine Cellar, 2011 Champion Wine Cellar at this year’s Southern Cape Bottled Wine Show, once again proved to be a force to be reckoned with, scooping three gold medals at the 2011 Veritas Awards. Gold medals were
awarded to the Cape Vintage Reserve Port 2009, Cape Vintage Reserve Port 2001 (Museum Class) and the White Muscadel Jerepigo 2011, the latter awarded the SA Champion Muscadel at the 2011 SA Young Wine Show.

Four silver medals were also added to De Krans’ list of accolades for the evening. Silver medals were awarded to the De Krans Tempranillo 2010 (a winner for Best Unusual Red Wine at this year’s Southern Cape Bottled Wine Show) and Touriga Nacional 2010, respectively, in the unusual red wine varietal category.

According to the winemaking team and brothers, Boets and Stroebel Nel, the award for the Cape Vintage Reserve Port 2001 in the Museum Class (wines older than 10 years) proves that De Krans ports age beautifully. Producing premium ports with excellent maturation potential, the De Krans Cape Vintage Reserve Port 2003 was recently sold for more than R300 per bottle at the 2011 Nederburg Auction.

De Krans Wine Cellar, situated in Calitzdorp, not only produces premium ports, but also Value for Money wines. Wine Magazine recently awarded the De Krans Relishing Red, De Krans Tinta Mocha 2010 and De Krans Cape Ruby Port their best Value for Money wines.
