Stenden South Africa Students off to a Good Start in 2012
During the first week of February, Stenden South Africa first years were welcomed with open arms while third year entrepreneurship students were already in full swing planning their first project of the year.
New clothes were given to the Enkuthazweni Disabled Children charity in February – putting smiles on more than a few faces – and the Silikamva Bakery proved that it could run efficiently in the community while under the guidance of Stenden South Africa.

On the 8th of February students enjoyed an Information Market which introduced them to local services and businesses which could benefit them. And after an exciting kick start to the new term the students are now looking forward to the Summer Ball. This event is open to the public and will take place on the 3rd of March.

Grand Tour Orientation

The Stenden Grand Tour students arrived in the first week of February and were treated to several interesting workshops and activities which they enjoyed during their orientation week. This week included trips to the different community projects which Stenden South Africa is involved with, as well as Xhosa lessons which were given to them by Stenden's Xhosa staff. They were also given informative HIV and personal security talks.

The Grand Tour students had the opportunity to participate in the Amazing Stenden Race along with some of the other students. This race allowed them to explore town and introduced them to boerewors rolls, which were a hit all round.

3rd Year Entrepreneurship Project

The third years kicked off the year in full swing with their exciting entrepreneurship projects. The students were divided into groups and were allocated a set amount of money. The groups had to plan an event which would raise further money – the group who raised the most money would be able to keep half of their earnings while selecting a charity to give the other half to.

Amongst the events that were held was a car wash, raffle and milk shake stand. The winning team held a party at The Lounge, a local nightclub, where they had several games and entertainment planned. They chose to donate their winnings to the SPCA, providing them with dog food and toys, as well as R1300 towards repairing their vehicles.
