Mantis Collection Plaque Unveiled at Stenden South Africa's MyPond Hotel

A New Era for Stenden South Africa and the MyPond Hotel.

SOUTH AFRICA, WESTERN CAPE, 7 NOVEMBER 2011 - On his most recent trip to Port Alfred, Stenden University's President, Leendert Klassen, unveiled a Mantis Collection plaque on the revamped MyPond Hotel. This is a major turning point for the MyPond Hotel and an exciting milestone for Stenden South Africa as the hotel will be joining the likes of Lake Pleasant, the Draycott Hotel and the Lawhill Luxury Apartments in the Western Cape – all part of the Mantis Collection!

Stenden South Africa is thrilled that Klaas Wybo van der Hoek, the Vice President of the Executive Board of Stenden University, along with the Vice President International at Stenden University, Robert Coelen, will be attending the Grand Opening of the MyPond Hotel on the 18th November.

The MyPond Hotel is located on the slopes of the Kowie River in Port Alfred and comprises of 17 en-suite bedrooms, a restaurant, a pub, a conference centre and a honeymoon suite with breathtaking views of the river. In anticipation of the opening, the MyPond Hotel is undergoing a R3 million extension – adding a further 10 bedrooms, upgrading the kitchen and conference facilities, and revamping all furnishing and lighting.

Stenden South Africa took over the management of the hotel in September this year, with their students taking full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the hotel. Thulani Xhali, a Stenden South Africa graduate, has been appointed as the general manager.

With less than a month to go, everybody at Stenden South Africa is buzzing with enthusiasm and anticipation for this new endeavour.
