Fleur du Cap is living up to its mantra
“Inspired by Nature” in an
innovative new eco-friendly
way, by becoming the first wine producer
to print on actual seed paper for its
promotional neck-tags. Instead of simply
being tossed away after reading, the neck-tags,
embedded with rocket and basil
seeds, can be planted as is to
start a herb garden.
Now you can buy one of Fleur du Cap’s
many award winning wines carrying the
seeded neck-tag and watch your herb garden
grow. Simply plant the entire Fleur du
Cap neck-tag under a thin layer of moist
soil in a self-draining pot and place
it in a warm, sunny spot.
Be sure to keep the soil damp
and you will soon have your very own rocket
and basil patch. Once they have sprouted
try pairing Fleur du Cap's
white wines with a pear, walnut and rocket
salad, or complement one of their reds
with a quick Spaghetti Bolognese, topped
with fresh basil.
Fleur du Cap wines owe their great complexity
and abundant yet subtle flavours to the
varying vineyard sites and unique terroir
of the Cape Floral Kingdom - the smallest
yet richest of only six such plant kingdoms
in the world.
Die Bergkelder, the famous mountain cellar
in the heart of Stellenbosch where Fleur
du Cap wines are crafted, lets nature
take the lead allowing the full expression
of the vine to emerge through minimal
human intervention.
Fleur du Cap’s ultra-eco-friendly
neck-tag campaign is part of a country-wide,
in-store promotion in leading outlets
during March and April with a full garden
make-over to the value of R30 000 up for
grabs. So be sure to watch out for the
seeded neck-tags on Fleur du Cap wines
and if the big garden makeover prize eludes
you, you can still start your own herb
garden!
