Double Gold for TOKARA Director’s Reserve Red

The 2007 TOKARA Director’s Reserve Red won a double gold in the 2011 Veritas Wine Competition.

	SOUTH AFRICA, STELLENBOSCH, 11 OCTOBER 2011 - As if to verify the recent 94-points score received from The Wine Advocate, the 2007 TOKARA Director’s Reserve Red won a double gold in the 2011 Veritas Wine Competition last Saturday evening. This is a stunning Bordeaux style blend consisting of 67% Cabernet sauvignon, 20% Petit verdot, 8% Merlot and 5% Malbec, The wines spent a total of twenty months in 80% new French oak - the rest being older French oak barriques. During maturation the wines received five rackings, all done barrel to barrel. The 2010 TOKARA Reserve Collection Noble Late Harvest and the TOKARA Five Year Old Potstill brandy were both awarded gold medals, with a further 5 silver and 6 bronze medals awarded to the wines from the three TOKARA properties in Stellenbosch, Elgin and Walker Bay. The Veritas Awards, SA’s biggest wine competition for market ready wines, is the longest running and most prestigious wine competition in South Africa and is synonymous with excellence in wine.
