#1 ALTO M.P.H.S Launch
Marilyn Cooper recently attended the launch of the maiden 2007 vintage of the flagship 67/33 blend of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Called Alto MPHS, it reflects the initials of the four winemakers who have built the reputation of the dryland Stellenbosch red wine estate.

#3 Cape Wine Academy signs co-op deal with German Wine and Sommelier School
The Cape Wine Academy and the German Wine and Sommelier School are each, in their respective countries, leading providers of wine training and further education programmes. The institutions have entered into an agreement to co-operate in the future, and specifically as market leaders to secure the competent and independent training in wine matters, and to provide high-level training and continuing education in this field.

#4 Cape Wine Academy offices in Africa
The Cape Wine Academy has offices in both Kenya and Zimbabwe. The Kenya office is run by the first Cape Sommelier™ TM Nicci Pain. CWA Kenya conducts South African Wine courses, Wines of the World, Certificate and Diploma Wine Courses. The CWA office in Zimbabwe has been operational since 2001, under Bunny Landon, who conducts Wine Service, South African Wine Course, and Certificate Wine Course.

#7 American wins first-ever Sommelier World Cup in SA
The inaugural winner of the Wines of South Africa (WOSA) Sommelier World Cup is Christopher Bates from the U.S., who came away with the top overall score after a rigorous series of theoretical and practical examinations. The judges’ panel included Hans-Jürgen Podzun, CEO of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Koblenz, Åsa W Karlsson, one of Sweden’s best- known wine personalities, and Marilyn Cooper, MD of the Cape Wine Academy.
